What kind of stressors?
Stressors on the brain come in different shapes and sizes. Dr. Bredesen has identified over 30 possible stressors that could lead to cognitive decline.
They include:
glycotoxicity - persistantly elevated glucose levels in the blood, which causes glucose molecules to stick to proteins and lipids impairing their funtions.
chronic inflammation - our bodies natural defence against pathogens. erronously being turned on over a very long period of time.
Poor oxygenation - commonly occurs during sleep even in those who do not have obstructive sleep apnoea and those who do not snore.
vascular dysfuction - not getting enough oxygen to the brain
toxin exposure or an inability to clear toxins.
atrophy - a lack of hormonal support for the brain to maintain normal function.
If there are so many possible causes of Alzheimer's dementia, how would one go about treating it?
Excellent question. Dr. Bredesen calls it Silver Buckshot
